Remote work is just smoke and mirrors.... It distracts us from the fact that most organizations have outdated ways or working and inefficient processes!

When you are in a do or die situation existing rules and old ways of working quickly go to the trash bin, whatever works is rapidly put into place. We have seen this so many times during the pandemic! Some companies have even managed to pivot their business model.

Still most companies fail to recognize that it is mostly their own processes, their legacy mindsets and culture that is holding them back.

Some do it right, but most companies still don't get it!

Bragging about implementation of remote work is a typical example of such failure. This is just about smoke and mirrors... mostly driven by potential office cost saving.

Operational excellence is great when you try to optimize, but when you operate in uncertain and volatile times you need agility and an entrepreneurial mindset. You need to transform.

Today we talk a lot about remote work, but shouldn't an equal amount of effort be put in designing more modular organizations that can quickly be re-assembled to be fit for purpose? What do you believe? Is remote work more than smoke and mirrors?
